Getting to Know Bagel: Our Office Dog

One of our esteemed colleagues happens to be canine.

Backstory: In August 2015, mild-mannered mutt Bagel became a family pet for ProSocial’s CEO, Meredith, and her husband and their two boys, soon after an animal rescue organization in Los Angeles, Wags & Walks, found the dog living on the streets and determined she’d been deliberately abandoned by her owners. She immediately became an integral member of the ProSocial team and comes to the office nearly every weekday.

Why Bagel: The name Bagel is interesting, and may seem to reflect Bagel’s lightly toasted–looking fur color, but if you ask Meredith, the choice was actually very simple: “That’s what happens when you let your 7-year-old and 10-year-old name the dog.”

Current work project: Right now, Bagel’s biggest project is overcoming separation anxiety. Since Bagel had an uncertain upbringing, she struggles when left alone for even the shortest periods of time. Bagel’s a hard worker, though, and with the help of all of us (it takes a village to raise a dog), she’s learning that we’ll always come back to her after our lunch breaks—no anxiety necessary.

Work style: Bagel shows up to the office with a positive, can-do attitude. She’s highly affectionate and she’s always there to sit in our laps while we research, strategize, and carry out campaigns for our clients. Bagel has been known to sit in on client meetings, attend weekly team brainstorm sessions, and provide the perfect excuse for a much-needed work break. Luckily, she is one of the least “barky” dogs we’ve ever known, so we don’t expect you’ll hear her in the background on our office phone calls, but chances are she’s curled up by our desk, right there with us.
